This unit

The JDSU KITMAPF (MAP TB3) is a tunable filter module with integrated broadband source designed for optical testing and measurement within the JDSU MAP platform ecosystem. This hot-swappable cassette combines a continuously tunable bandpass filter spanning 1520 nm to 1630 nm with a built-in broadband source delivering amplified spontaneous emission output across the C-band. The module executes wavelength-specific filtering and signal generation for insertion loss testing, dispersion penalty analysis, and related optical characterization tasks.

Technical Specifications

Tunable Bandpass Filter

  • Wavelength range: 1520 nm to 1630 nm continuous tuning

  • Tuning resolution: 0.005 nm

  • -3 dB bandwidth options: 0.11 nm, 0.25 nm, 0.55 nm

  • Filter geometry: Diffraction grating with stepper motor wavelength selection

  • Polarization dependent loss: <0.3 dB

  • Maximum input power: 300 mW (standard) or 1000 mW (high power option)

  • Low insertion loss and high rejection characteristics; "G" filter shape provides sharpness Broadband Source

  • Type: Built-in amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) source

  • Spectral output: Flattened high power density across C-band with high spectral stability Module Options

  • Peak search: Identifies absolute maximum transmission within full tuning range or local maximum within defined range

  • 10% tap option: Integrated power monitoring

Key Features

  • Hot-swappable installation into MAP series mainframes without power cycling

  • Automatic cassette identification via dynamic MAP firmware and console

  • Tuning resolution of 0.005 nm enables precise wavelength targeting

  • Low PDL (<0.3 dB) maintains signal integrity across polarization states

Typical Applications

  • Insertion loss and channel isolation measurements

  • Dispersion penalty testing

  • Wavelength-selective optical signal generation and filtering

  • C-band component characterization

Compatibility & Integration The KITMAPF integrates into JDSU MAP-200 platform and earlier MAP chassis (benchtop 3-slot MAP+2B00 or 8-slot MAP+2M00 configurations). Remote control via GPIB, USB, or Ethernet (10/100/1000Base-T); supports LabVIEW, LabWindows, Visual C++, and Visual Basic drivers. MAP-200 mainframes are LXI Class C compliant with IVI driver support.
