Quality commitment
Aumictech LLC is committed to providing calibration and measurement services that are accurate, documented, and traceable to national standards. Our calibration work is performed in-house by technicians with direct experience on the instrument types we calibrate. We do not outsource calibration, subcontract measurement work, or issue certificates for work not performed on our bench.
This policy describes the standards we work to, the traceability chain behind our reference standards, and what our calibration certificates contain. It is the basis for our calibration guarantee and is the document our customers can reference when our certificates are reviewed by their quality management systems.
NIST traceability chain
Every calibration we perform is traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) through the following chain:
Our reference standards are calibrated annually by an accredited calibration laboratory. Reference standard calibration certificates and their expiry dates are maintained on file and are available for customer review on request. The reference standard identification numbers and their calibration expiry dates appear on every calibration certificate we issue.

Reference standard maintenance and environmental controls
Our reference standards are maintained under controlled conditions to preserve their calibration:
- Reference standards are stored separately from working instruments and are only brought to the bench for calibration work
- Optical reference standards (power meters, attenuators) are cleaned before each use per IEC 61300-3-35 cleanliness procedures
- Reference standards are re-calibrated annually or upon any event that may have affected their calibration (drop, overload, connector damage)
- Working standard calibration intervals are set at 6 months or per manufacturer recommendation, whichever is shorter
- Out-of-tolerance findings on any reference are investigated and all certificates issued since the previous calibration are reviewed for impact
Record retention
Calibration records — including raw measurement data sheets, reference standard identification, and technician identity — are retained for a minimum of 7 years after the calibration date. Records are stored in a manner that protects against loss and unauthorized modification.

Frequently asked questions
What does NIST-traceable calibration mean in practice?
NIST-traceable calibration means every measurement made during calibration can be traced back to a national standard maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, through an unbroken chain of calibrations with documented measurement uncertainty at each step. Our working standards are calibrated against reference standards that were calibrated by an accredited laboratory with direct NIST traceability. This chain is documented on every calibration certificate we issue.
What does an Aumictech calibration certificate include?
Every calibration certificate includes: instrument make, model, and serial number; calibration date and due date; calibration procedure reference; NIST traceability statement; reference standard identification and their calibration expiry dates; measured values at each test point (full data certificate) or pass/fail at each test point (standard certificate); measurement uncertainty; and the name of the technician who performed the calibration.
What is measurement uncertainty and why does it matter?
Measurement uncertainty is the range within which the true value of a measured quantity lies, with a defined confidence level. On a calibration certificate, uncertainty of ±0.02 dB at 95% confidence means the true value is within 0.02 dB of the reported value 95% of the time. Uncertainty matters because it determines whether your instrument's error is within its specification — an instrument measuring 0.05 dB high is "in spec" if uncertainty is ±0.1 dB, but may not be if uncertainty is ±0.01 dB.
Do you outsource any calibration work?
No. All calibration performed by Aumictech is done in-house at our Pleasant Grove, UT facility. We do not send instruments to third-party calibration labs on behalf of customers, and our calibration certificates reflect work performed on our bench against our reference standards. If a customer requires accredited ISO 17025 calibration, we recommend engaging an accredited lab directly.
How long do you retain calibration records?
We retain calibration records — including measured data, reference standard identification, and technician records — for a minimum of 7 years. If you need a copy of a calibration record for an instrument you purchased from us, contact us with the serial number and calibration date. Records from instruments calibrated more than 7 years ago may not be available.
