How to get a quote

1
Email us with the details

Send an email to sales@aumictech.com with the instrument make, model, and serial number; a brief description of condition (does it power on, any known faults, cosmetic wear); and 2 to 4 photos showing the front panel, rear panel, and serial number plate. If you have multiple instruments, list them all in one email.

2
Receive your offer

We respond within 2 business days with a purchase offer or, for instruments that need evaluation before pricing, a request for the unit to be shipped to our bench (at our cost) for assessment. The offer is valid for 14 days.

3
Ship the instrument

If you accept the offer, we send a prepaid shipping label. Pack the instrument securely — double-box with foam suspension if possible, and remove any sensitive optical adapters from connectors. We will contact you if the received condition differs from what was described.

4
Get paid

Payment is issued by check or ACH bank transfer within 5 business days of receiving and accepting the instrument. If the received condition differs from the quoted condition, we contact you with a revised offer before proceeding. You may decline and have the instrument returned.

What makes your instrument worth more

These factors affect the offer price in descending order of impact:

  • Fully functional with no known faults — instruments that pass self-test and perform within spec command the highest prices
  • Recent NIST-traceable calibration certificate — a current calibration adds immediate value because the buyer doesn't need to recalibrate before use
  • Original accessories included — power cables, fiber cables, adapters, manuals, and carrying cases all add value
  • Good cosmetic condition — minimal scratches, no bent panels, working display without dead pixels
  • Current high-demand model — EXFO MaxTester series, Keysight N77xx, Yokogawa AQ6370 series, Fujikura FSM-12S/22S currently sell quickly
  • Options installed — factory options add value proportionally to what they cost new

Frequently asked questions

What types of test equipment does Aumictech buy?

We buy used optical test equipment (OSAs, OTDRs, optical power meters, tunable laser sources, fusion splicers, wavelength meters, optical attenuators, EDFAs) and RF/microwave test equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, function generators). We also buy VXI modules and industrial controllers. Contact us if you have something not on this list — we evaluate most precision instrument categories.

How do I get a quote for my instrument?

Email sales@aumictech.com with the instrument make, model, serial number, a brief condition description (does it power on, any known faults, cosmetic condition), and 2 to 4 photos. We respond with a purchase offer or evaluation request within 2 business days. No commitment is required to get a quote.

Can I trade in equipment toward a purchase?

Yes. If you are buying from our inventory, the value of your trade-in can be applied as credit toward your purchase. This is often faster than selling separately — we handle the evaluation and credit in one transaction. Mention the unit you want to buy when you submit the trade-in inquiry.

How do you determine what you will pay for used equipment?

We base offers on current market demand for the model, the instrument's condition and functionality, calibration status, included accessories, and what it will cost us to bring it to saleable condition. Working instruments with recent NIST calibration and original accessories in good cosmetic condition command the best prices. Instruments with known faults are offered at a reduced price that reflects the repair cost.

What instruments will you not buy?

We do not buy instruments with catastrophic physical damage (cracked substrates, fire damage, complete loss of optical components), instruments with no identifiable serial number, instruments that are ITAR-controlled without appropriate export documentation, or discontinued models for which we cannot source spare parts. We also do not buy instruments whose market value is below our minimum evaluation threshold — typically instruments worth less than $200 in working condition.

How and when do you pay for instruments you purchase?

Payment is made by check or ACH bank transfer within 5 business days of receiving, inspecting, and accepting the instrument. If the instrument does not match what was described in the quote, we will contact you with a revised offer before proceeding. You may decline the revised offer and have the instrument returned at our shipping cost.
