This unit

The Behlman P1351 is a 1350 VA AC power supply and frequency converter range of industrial and commercial applications. This unIt has fully adjustable voltage and frequency, with a low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) output and high efficiency. It is suitable for simulating various utility power conditions, as well as aircraft and shipboard power systems.

Technical Specifications * Output Power: 1350 VA

  • Output Voltage: Continuously adjustable from 0-135 VAC (10 Amps) or 0-270 VAC (5 Amps)
  • Output Frequency: Continuously adjustable from 45 Hz to 500 Hz. An optional Extended Frequency range (Option E) is available for 45 Hz to 1000 Hz.
  • Output Regulation: * Line Regulation: ±0.1% for ±10% line change * Load Regulation: ±0.7%, from no load to full load
  • Output Distortion (THD): 1.0% typical at full load, 115 Volts, 60 Hz. 1% typical at 115 V 50Hz into a pure resistive load. 1.5% THD typical for the PF1351 model at full load, 120 Volts, 60 Hz.
  • Output Noise: 2.5 V peak to peak typical (on low range into 10 ohms).
  • Crest Factor: 3:1
  • Power Factor: 100% of rated output into any power factor load
  • Efficiency: 80% typical. 75% typical for the PF1351 model.

Electrical Specifications * Input Voltage: 120 VAC ±10%. For the PF1351 model, input voltage is 95-270 VAC (16 Amps max), with full power operation from 115 VAC to 270 VAC. Continuous full power operation from a 120V source may require a supply capable of at least 20A.

  • Input Frequency: 47-440 Hz. 47-63 Hz for the PF1351 model.
  • Input Protection: Fuse.

Interfaces and Control * Front Panel Controls: Power On/Off switch, Range Select (High/Low), VOLTS adjust control, VOLTS display, SELECT switch (for FREQ/AMPS display), Output On/Off switch.

  • Remote Control Options: * Analog Remote Control (Option A): 0-10 VDC for voltage and frequency, with contact closure for range and output control. * IEEE-488 Interface (Option I). * RS232 Interface (Option IR).

Physical Specifications * Dimensions: 3.5" H x 17" W x 17.5" D (8.9 cm x 43.2 cm x 44.5 cm). For the PF1351 model, dimensions are 3.5" H x 17" W x 22" D (8.9 cm x 43.2 cm x 55.9 cm).

  • Weight: 39 lbs (17.6 kg). 49 lbs (22.2 kg) for the PF1351 model.
  • Chassis: High-strength benchtop chassis with removable rubber feet, convertible to rack mount.
  • Operating Temperature: 32° to 131° F (0° to 55° C). 32° to 122° F (0° to 50° C) for the PF1351 model.
  • Storage Temperature: 14° to 140° F (-10° to +60° C) for the PF1351 model.
  • Input Connections: IEC 320 C-20 receptacle. For the PF1351 model, an IEC 320 C-20 receptacle with a two-meter unterminated cable.
  • Output Connections: Three safety sockets on the front panel and an enclosed terminal block on the rear.

Protective Circuits * Overload Protection: Features a constant current fold-back circuit that automatically reduces output voltage to maintain rated current without distorting the output waveform.

  • Short Circuit Protection: Electronically latches the output open to protect the load; power is restored by recycling input power.
  • Thermal Protection: An internal temperature sensor prevents heat damage.

Compatibility The Behlman P1351 can simulate a wide range of AC power conditions, making it compatible with testing requirements for:

  • Industrial product testing
  • Precision avionic test and aircraft simulator power
  • Power conversion applications
  • Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)
  • Shipboard power systems The unit performs best into linear loads, which are characterized by a sinusoidal current waveform, such as AC motors, power transformers, and heating elements.
