The Fluke 408B is a precision DC power supply engineered for high-voltage testing, calibration, and component evaluation. It delivers 0–6000V DC at 0–20mA with ±0.1% accuracy on both voltage and current, supported by load regulation better than 0.01% and ripple/noise below 1V RMS. The instrument combines silicon transistor amplifier circuitry with a vacuum tube series passing element, delivering approximately 120W output power.
Voltage and current are set via four decade switches and vernier potentiometer, with manual or remote control options. A front-panel selector allows positive or negative output terminal grounding. Over-voltage and over-current protection safeguard the unit and connected equipment.
A time-delay relay extends high-voltage tube life. The 408B accommodates both benchtop and 19-inch rack mounting, featuring rubber feet for bench stability and designed for adequate cooling at high ambient temperatures without forced-air cooling. Its compact, lightweight construction suits integration into test laboratories and field environments.
