This unit
The Jewell Instruments MS2 Analog Panel Meter delivers precise electrical signal indication across industrial and laboratory environments. This analog meter combines D'Arsonval movement technology with user-accessible zero adjustment and multiple configuration options to meet diverse measurement requirements.
Technical Specifications Accuracy & Standards
DC meters: ±2% of full scale at 23°C
AC rectified-type meters: ±3% of full scale at 23°C
Compliant with ANSI C39.1 Movement Types Three movement options address different application demands. Pivot & Jewel movements employ a compact, self-shielded D'Arsonval design with 100° deflection (100 µA range and above) or 90° deflection (below 100 µA range), offering excellent damping and shock resistance. Taut Band (TB) movements provide superior torque and damping with 100° standard deflection and enhanced shock immunity through unique suspension design. Core-Mag (CM) movements deliver 90° standard deflection. Electrical Characteristics Ammeter resistance: ±10% of stated value in ohms. Voltmeter resistance: ±5% of stated value in ohms. The 1½" meter input is 50 mVDC for use with external shunts (not supplied).
Key Features
External zero adjuster on cover with ±3% minimum adjustment range

Jewell Instruments MS2 — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Jewell Instruments MS2. Calibration covers calibration scope varies by instrument type: vacuum gauges are verified at multiple pressure points against NIST-traceable pressure standards; spectrophotometers at wavelength accuracy and photometric accuracy points; strain gauge indicators at bridge excitation accuracy and full-scale output accuracy; pH meters against certified buffer solutions at pH 4, 7, and 10.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Jewell Instruments MS2 faults: vacuum gauge filament failure (ionization gauges), spectrophotometer D2 lamp end-of-life, wavelength motor failure, strain indicator front-panel binding post corrosion, pH electrode conditioning failure. Most specialty laboratory instruments fail at their electromechanical interfaces first — vacuum gauge connectors and filament assemblies, spectrophotometer lamp housings and motor drives, strain indicator binding post corrosion. Component-level repair is standard; manufacturer support for legacy instruments is often limited, making third-party bench repair the practical path.
