This unit
The JDSU MTA150 is a 19-inch rack-mountable attenuator mainframe designed for automated optical testing and signal conditioning. This configuration pairs the MTA150 chassis with eight MTA300 programmable optical attenuator cassettes, delivering multi-channel attenuation control across the C, L, and extended bands. The modular architecture supports up to eight attenuator or switch cassettes plus one controller cassette, enabling customizable channel density and mixed functionality within a single 2U frame.
The MTA300 attenuator modules provide programmable attenuation exceeding 60 dB with 0.05 dB nominal resolution and ±0.1 dB maximum accuracy. Change rate is less than 6 seconds from 0 to 60 dB. Each module delivers 2.2 dB typical insertion loss, >60 dB typical return loss, and 90 dB isolation.
All modules support bidirectional optics with SC/APC connectors and accept up to 200 mW optical input power.

JDSU MTA150/MTA300 — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the JDSU MTA150/MTA300. Calibration covers attenuation accuracy at 5 or more set values across the full range (0 to rated maximum dB), attenuation linearity, wavelength-dependent attenuation at 1310 nm, 1490 nm, and 1550 nm, insertion loss at minimum attenuation (0 dB position), and polarization-dependent loss (PDL) where applicable. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common JDSU MTA150/MTA300 faults: motor and gear mechanism wear (attenuation steps or loss of smooth control), optical port contamination, EEPROM calibration data corruption. Most common faults are motor or gear mechanism wear on variable attenuators causing attenuation steps or loss of smooth control, optical port contamination reducing dynamic range, and EEPROM calibration data corruption on digitally controlled models.
