This unit

The Keysight/Agilent/HP 3325A is a synthesizer/function generator combining precision signal generation with full programmability for ATE systems and electronic development. It generates sine, square, triangle, and ramp waveforms from 1 µHz to 21 MHz (sine), with auxiliary outputs extending to 61 MHz. Frequency resolution reaches 1 µHz below 100 kHz and 1 mHz above, backed by ±5 × 10⁻⁶ accuracy. The instrument delivers 1 mV to 10 V peak-to-peak output into 50 Ω loads with selectable amplitude display in V rms or dBm. Phase-continuous logarithmic, linear, and discrete sweeps span the full frequency range with variable sweep times and marker output. External AM and PM modulation, variable phase offset to ±719.9°, and DC offset to ±4.5 V (±18 V with Option 002) enable complex signal conditioning. Sine harmonics measure 65 dB down below 50 kHz; square waves exhibit ≤20 ns rise/fall time; triangle and ramp linearity holds to 0.05%. Ten front-panel storage registers recall instrument setups instantly. HP-IB programmability integrates into automated test systems. External reference input (0 dBm to +20 dBm, 1 MHz to 10 MHz) enables phase-locking to external standards. Warm-up to specified accuracy requires 20 minutes. Optional high-stability reference (Option 001) improves aging to ±5 × 10⁻⁸/week; Option 002 extends output capability. Housed in a compact 5.25" × 16.75" × 19.63" package drawing 90 VA, the 3325A operates across 0°C to 55°C at up to 95% relative humidity.

Common Keysight / Agilent / HP 3325A faults: BNC output connector wear, output amplifier failure from short-circuit drive, display and keypad membrane switch wear, DDS or DAC failure on 33250A. HP 33120A and Agilent 33220A most common fault is BNC output connector wear from repeated cable insertions. Output amplifier failure on the HP 33120A typically results from sustained short-circuit drive. Agilent 33250A DDS and high-speed DAC failures are rare but require component-level repair and post-repair amplitude verification across the full 80 MHz range.
