This unit

The Yokogawa AQ1210E is a triple-wavelength Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) engineered for field testing of single-mode optical fiber networks. Operating at 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and 1625 nm, it delivers dynamic range of 37 dB at 1310 nm and 35 dB at both 1550 nm and 1625 nm. The instrument measures fiber links from 0.1 to 256 km with event dead zone of 0.75 m, attenuation dead zone of 4 m, and PON dead zone of 35 m. Sampling resolution reaches 5 cm minimum across up to 256,000 points. Loss measurement accuracy is ±0.05 dB/dB; optical return loss accuracy is ±2 dB. Pulse widths range from 5 ns to 20,000 ns for adaptive characterization. The 5.7-inch multi-touch LCD display supports both touchscreen and hard-key operation with rotary dial control for field use. Startup time is under 10 seconds. Automatic and high-speed real-time measurement modes operate simultaneously. Smart Mapper function generates icon-based event reports. PON system capability extends to 128-split networks. Dimensions are 210 mm (W) × 148 mm (H) × 69 mm (D); weight is 1 kg. Battery runtime reaches 10 hours on a single charge via USB Type-C power adapter (sold separately). Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity enable remote access and wireless data transfer. Built-in post-processing generates PDF reports with configurable templates. USB Type-C port supports both charging and data export. Designed for ITU-T G.652 single-mode fiber characterization, the AQ1210E combines compact field portability with industrial-grade measurement precision.

Yokogawa AQ1210E — Repair & Calibration Service

Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Yokogawa AQ1210E. Calibration covers distance accuracy verified against a calibrated fiber length reference, event loss measurement accuracy at splice and connector events, dead zone (event and attenuation) at rated pulse width, dynamic range verification at 1310 nm and 1550 nm, backscatter coefficient calibration, and return loss measurement accuracy. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.

Pass/fail cert + NIST sticker
Cal with Data
$650
Full NIST cert with measured values

Common Yokogawa AQ1210E faults: optical port connector damage or contamination, battery failure, display damage from field use, module failure on FTB or MTS platforms, calibration drift. Most field OTDRs fail due to physical damage. On modular platforms (EXFO FTB, Viavi MTS), individual module failures are serviced without replacing the entire mainframe. Optical port cleaning resolves many apparent measurement faults before mechanical repair is needed.
