The Ericsson EFC11-4 Fiber Cleaver is a precision ultrasonic cleaving instrument engineered to produce mirror-quality fiber ends for fusion splicing applications. A diamond blade mounted to a resonant acoustic-stepped horn vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies, controlled by an integrated electronic circuit. This approach allows the blade to advance slowly toward tensioned fiber on low-friction bearings, eliminating compressive stress and blade intrusion.


The result is consistently planar fiber ends with end-angle accuracy better than 1° - critical for low-loss splices across single-mode and multi-mode fiber types.
