This unit
The Anritsu FP000012 TUNICS-Plus is a benchtop tunable laser source engineered for optical communication testing and component characterization. It delivers mode-hop-free operation across a 150 nm tuning range with 1 pm resolution, ensuring stable and repeatable wavelength output. Available in six versions spanning 1260 nm to 1640 nm, the instrument combines high spectral purity with precise wavelength control - making it essential for research, development, and manufacturing in optical fiber communications.
Technical Specifications
Wavelength accuracy is ±0.04 nm with tuning repeatability of ±0.005 nm. Wavelength stability reaches 5 pm/h (3 pm/h typical) and 5 pm/24h typical. Output power ranges to +10 dBm on select models, easing power budgets and enabling high-dynamic range measurements. Optical performance is defined by Side Mode Suppression Ratio (SMSR) exceeding 40 dB across standard models, with CL and CL/WB variants reaching >45 dB. Tunics Plus E and CL/WB models achieve >50 dB SMSR within specific windows (1280–1320 nm and 1380–1410 nm respectively). Linewidth is typically <145 dB/Hz.Key Features
- Mode-hop-free operation with proprietary active control across entire tuning range
- Sweeping mode delivers continuous wavelength variation at constant rate for uninterrupted measurement campaigns
- Internal wavelength adjustment synchronized to external wavelength meter calibration via RS 232-C interface
- Wavelength monitoring activation through keyboard or GPIB control
- Six model versions: O, E, S, CL, S/WB, and CL/WB configurations
- Smooth scans with extremely fine 1 pm step resolution
Typical Applications Optical component evaluation, fiber optic system validation, wavelength-dependent performance characterization, and broad-spectrum device testing across the 1260–1640 nm window.
Compatibility & Integration GPIB interface supports remote control and wavelength monitoring. FC-APC/FC-PC fiber optic jumper included. Integration with RS 232-C compatible wavelength meters enables closed-loop calibration. All specifications apply following 30-minute warm-up and self-calibration within specified temperature range. Weight: 12.5 kg.
