This unit

The Fujikura FSM-17R is a ribbon fiber fusion splicer for single-mode and multimode optical fibers, supporting single, 2-fiber, and 4-fiber ribbon configurations. It delivers exceptional splice performance with average loss of 0.05 dB (SM) and 0.02 dB (MM), completes splicing cycles in 20 seconds, and achieves return loss exceeding 60 dB. The unit employs dual-directional cladding alignment with fixed V-grooves and an arc calibration-free system, eliminating setup complexity in field environments. Dual CMOS cameras and 89x magnification provide real-time fiber visualization on a 5.6-inch color LCD monitor. A built-in tube heater with 10 user modes performs protection sleeve fusion in 40 seconds. The FSM-17R stores the last 600 splice results, offers 40 programmable splicing modes, and operates across altitudes to 3,660 meters and wind speeds to 15 m/s. Battery operation delivers 70 cycles (BTR-06S) or 140 cycles (BTR-06L) per charge. USB 1.1 interface enables PC data transfer and external monitoring via RCA video jack.
