The Abaco Systems IP-OctalPlus485 is a single-wide Type I IndustryPack module that provides eight independent RS-485 serial communication ports for embedded systems requiring expanded asynchronous serial connectivity. Built around the Signetics SCC2698B octal UART, the module integrates 3-character receiver FIFO buffers per channel to reduce interrupt handling latency and improve system responsiveness. Programmable baud rates, bit lengths, parity, and stop bits allow configuration across diverse communication protocols and legacy serial interfaces.
