The EXFO IQS-8105-DSN Transport Blazer is a modular test instrument for validating legacy and optical transport networks. Designed as a plug-in module for the EXFO IQS-600 Integrated Qualification System, it delivers comprehensive electrical testing across DSn, PDH, SONET, and SDH rates from 64 kbit/s to 155 Mbit/s. The instrument excels at BER testing, advanced characterization, and troubleshooting of complex transport hierarchies.
Technical Specifications
The module supports electrical rates spanning DS1 (1.5M), E1 (2M), E2 (8M), E3 (34M), DS3 (45M), E4 (140M), STM-0e, and STM-1e interfaces. DS1 framing options include Unframed, SF (Sub-rate Framing), and ESF (Extended Superframe) configurations.Key Features SmartMode enables real-time signal structure discovery with full visibility of high-order (STS/AU) and low-order (VT/TU) mixed mappings, including automatic detection of STS-n/STM-n electrical rates, virtual concatenation members, and complex mapping hierarchies. The instrument inserts and measures frame-level errors (FAS, CV, CRC-4, CRC-6, BPV) and bit-level errors on DS1 and E1 interfaces. Alarm insertion and detection covers LOS, RAI, AIS, OOF, LOC, and pattern loss conditions. Automated test scripting uses SCPI commands or a built-in macro recorder for repeatability and integration into production workflows. Detailed test logging captures error/alarm events and supports SLA conformance validation with post-processing capabilities.
