The HP/Agilent 54820A Infiniium Oscilloscope is a 2-channel, 500 MHz real-time oscilloscope engineered for design validation, troubleshooting, and signal analysis. It captures waveforms at 2 GSa/s simultaneously on both channels with 32,768 points of memory per channel, delivering 700 ps rise time performance. The instrument combines an intuitive analog-style front panel with a Windows-based GUI, providing immediate familiarity alongside advanced measurement capabilities. Real-time, equivalent-time, and peak-detect sampling modes accommodate diverse signal types, from DC transients to high-speed digital edges. Vertical sensitivity ranges from 1 mV/div to 5 V/div with selectable 1 MΩ or 50 Ω input impedance and AC/DC coupling. Advanced triggering includes standard edge, glitch, logic, and state triggers, with optional violation triggering for rise time, fall time, setup/hold time, and runt pulse detection. Built-in waveform math features FFT and histogram analysis. Eye diagram measurements support communications designs, and optional AutoMask generates test envelopes automatically. The oscilloscope stores 5 GByte internally and outputs waveform data as ASCII or Excel files; images export to BMP, PCX, TIF, GIF, EPS, or PS formats.
