This unit
The Keysight 64700B Emulator Card Cage is a modular chassis system that houses and manages emulator and analyzer cards for embedded system debugging and real-time processor analysis. Built on a dual-bus architecture, the cage enables nonintrusive tracing without interrupting processor execution, supporting 8-, 16-, or 32-bit processor configurations through interchangeable card sets.
Technical Specifications
Card slots: 6.5 total; 2.5 reserved for host control and optional LAN card; 4 available for emulator cards, optional software performance analyzer, and future expansion
Internal bus: 60-pin data bus for inter-card communication
Connectivity: LAN interface and RS-232 serial communication
Front-panel status indicators: LEDs for status and alarm monitoring
Processor support: Configurable 8-, 16-, or 32-bit architectures
Architecture: Dual-bus design for real-time, nonintrusive analysis
Key Features The modular card cage design enables rapid reconfiguration and disassembly for processor transitions. The 60-pin internal data bus provides deterministic inter-card signaling. External LAN and RS-232 interfaces allow remote development tool operation across laboratory and enterprise network environments. Front-panel LEDs provide immediate status visibility without external instrumentation.
Typical Applications Embedded system development and validation for microcontroller-based designs. Real-time instruction and data tracing during target execution. Integration with software performance analysis tools via optional analyzer cards. Multi-processor debugging configurations leveraging modular emulator card sets.
Compatibility & Integration The 64700B cage accepts emulator and analyzer cards including the 64746J, 64170A Memory Control Board, 64708A SPA VME Card, 64794A Emulation Bus Analyzer, 64700 Series Emulator, and Keysight 64782 Motorola 6833x-family emulator. Host systems include HP 9000 workstations and PCs. Firmware compatibility is card-specific; firmware updates may be required when upgrading from older to newer emulator cards, potentially including Flash EPROM board programming.
Keysight / Agilent / HP 64700B — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Keysight / Agilent / HP 64700B. Calibration covers analog input channel accuracy and offset at all gain settings, analog output accuracy, digital I/O logic threshold verification, sample rate and timing accuracy, and trigger and synchronization bus functional verification. NI CompactRIO and PXI chassis also undergo backplane trigger line integrity check.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Keysight / Agilent / HP 64700B faults: power supply failure (cRIO-9073/9074), C-series slot connector wear, PXI chassis fan failure, GPIB interface failure on VXI controllers, BIOS/EEPROM corruption. NI CompactRIO most common faults are power supply failure on older cRIO-9073/9074 chassis and C-series module slot connector wear from repeated hot-swap cycles. PXI chassis fan failure is the most common wear item — chassis fans are field-replaceable. VXI embedded controllers most commonly develop EEPROM corruption and GPIB interface failure.
