This unit
The Yokogawa AQ1215E is a multi-wavelength Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) for field testing and maintenance of single-mode fiber networks. Operating at 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and 1625 nm with dynamic ranges of 42 dB, 40 dB, and 39 dB respectively, it delivers measurement capability across distances from 0.1 km to 512 km. The 1625 nm port includes filtering for live PON network testing.
Equipped with dual SC/PC optical ports, the instrument supports up to 1x128 splitter configurations and manages measurement conditions for up to 2000 fiber cores, making it suitable for CATV, telecommunications, and data center applications.

Yokogawa AQ1215E — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Yokogawa AQ1215E. Calibration covers distance accuracy verified against a calibrated fiber length reference, event loss measurement accuracy at splice and connector events, dead zone (event and attenuation) at rated pulse width, dynamic range verification at 1310 nm and 1550 nm, backscatter coefficient calibration, and return loss measurement accuracy. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Yokogawa AQ1215E faults: optical port connector damage or contamination, battery failure, display damage from field use, module failure on FTB or MTS platforms, calibration drift. Most field OTDRs fail due to physical damage. On modular platforms (EXFO FTB, Viavi MTS), individual module failures are serviced without replacing the entire mainframe. Optical port cleaning resolves many apparent measurement faults before mechanical repair is needed.
