This unit
The cPCI-690 is a 6U CompactPCI single-board computer built around the PowerPC 750FX processor for embedded systems requiring high availability and flexible deployment in telecommunications, data communications, and industrial control environments. Operating at 700 MHz or higher with a 133 MHz frontside bus and up to 1 GB of high-speed SDRAM, the cPCI-690 delivers computing performance suitable for multiprocessor architectures. The board's Sentinel universal PCI-to-PCI bridge enables operation as either a system controller or intelligent peripheral card without hardware or software reconfiguration - eliminating design constraints in complex backplane systems.

Compatibility & Integration The cPCI-690 is backward compatible with preceding PowerCore PowerPC-based single-board computers and integrates into PICMG 2.16 packet switching backplanes. Its universal bridge architecture simplifies multiprocessor system design by allowing flexible role assignment without physical or logical reconfiguration.
Emerson / Motorola / Force Computers cPCI-690 — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Emerson / Motorola / Force Computers cPCI-690. Calibration covers analog input channel accuracy and offset at all gain settings, analog output accuracy, digital I/O logic threshold verification, sample rate and timing accuracy, and trigger and synchronization bus functional verification. NI CompactRIO and PXI chassis also undergo backplane trigger line integrity check.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Emerson / Motorola / Force Computers cPCI-690 faults: power supply failure (cRIO-9073/9074), C-series slot connector wear, PXI chassis fan failure, GPIB interface failure on VXI controllers, BIOS/EEPROM corruption. NI CompactRIO most common faults are power supply failure on older cRIO-9073/9074 chassis and C-series module slot connector wear from repeated hot-swap cycles. PXI chassis fan failure is the most common wear item — chassis fans are field-replaceable. VXI embedded controllers most commonly develop EEPROM corruption and GPIB interface failure.
