This unit

The Agilent/Keysight E9300A E-Series Average Power Sensor delivers precise average power measurements from 10 MHz to 18 GHz with an 80 dB dynamic range. Built on patented diode-attenuator-diode (MBID) topology, this sensor maintains measurement diodes in the square-law region to ensure accuracy across all modulation formats - including W-CDMA, CDMA, TDMA, OFDM, multi-tone, and CW signals. The sensor operates independently of signal bandwidth and integrates with Keysight EPM, EPM-P, and P-series power meters through automatic EEPROM-stored calibration factor retrieval.

Technical Specifications

  • Frequency Range: 10 MHz to 18 GHz

  • Power Measurement Range: −60 dBm to +20 dBm

  • Dynamic Range: 80 dB

  • Maximum Average Power: +25 dBm (320 mW)

  • Peak Power: +33 dBm (< 10 μs duration)

  • Measurement Type: Average power

  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to 55°C

Key Features

  • Dual-path architecture automatically switches between low-power (−60 dBm to −10 dBm) and high-power (−10 dBm to +20 dBm) measurement paths

  • Bandwidth-independent operation - no matching required to modulation format

  • SWR ranges from 1.13 to 1.27 across the frequency band depending on temperature and frequency segment

  • NIST-traceable calibration stored in onboard EEPROM

  • Precision Type-N male connector

Typical Applications Average power measurement of digital modulated signals, multi-carrier waveforms, and continuous-wave RF sources across microwave and sub-millimeter frequencies.

Compatibility & Integration Direct integration with Keysight EPM, EPM-P, and P-series power meters. Not compatible with legacy HP 430-Series, HP E1416A, or HP 70100A instruments. Requires compatible firmware and DSP code versions.
