This unit
The Keysight N5249B PNA-X is a 10 MHz to 8.5 GHz microwave network analyzer that integrates vector network analysis, spectrum analysis, noise figure measurement, and power metering into a single test engine. Two internal signal sources, dual receivers, and an internal signal combiner enable linear and nonlinear characterization of active devices - amplifiers, mixers, and frequency converters - from a single connection point to the device under test.
Technical Specifications
- Frequency Range: 10 MHz to 8.5 GHz
- Port Configurations: 2-port and 4-port available
- System Dynamic Range: 126 to 136 dB (up to 125 to 158 dB with receiver access)
- Maximum Output Power: +13 dBm
- Power Sweep Range: 38 dB
- Trace Noise: 0.002 dB RMS at 1 kHz bandwidth
- Source Harmonics: −51 dBc typical; −60 dBc typical

Key Features
- Pulsed RF measurements with narrowband pulse detection (< 267 ns) providing 40 dB dynamic range improvement
- AM-AM and AM-PM gain compression characterization with 38 dB power sweep and +13 dBm output
- Harmonic and intermodulation distortion (IMD) measurements using dual internal sources and integrated combiner
- Source-corrected noise figure analysis
- TRL calibration support for in-fixture, on-wafer, and waveguide measurements
- Integrated pulse modulators and generators
- Source and receiver attenuators for measurement optimization
Typical Applications Research and development of RF/microwave components and subsystems; manufacturing test of active devices; nonlinear device characterization; noise performance validation.
Compatibility & Integration Two internal signal sources, S-parameter and noise receivers, switch matrix, and digital voltmeter functionality eliminate the need for external instrumentation in many test scenarios.
