The Keithley / MetraByte PCIP-DMM/A is a 4.5-digit multimeter card designed for direct integration into ISA-bus compatible computer systems via full-length I/O slot insertion. It delivers benchtop multimeter performance within a plug-in architecture, using the host computer's display and input peripherals as its user interface. The card measures DC and AC voltage, DC and AC current (true RMS), and resistance across manual or auto-ranging modes. Data logging capabilities distinguish this instrument for automated test environments. Capture up to 999,999 readings at intervals from 0.5 seconds to 99.9 minutes, with background operation enabled. All logged data streams to user-specified ASCII files compatible with spreadsheet and presentation software. When coupled with a PCIPSCAN module, the PCIP-DMM/A expands into a multi-channel data acquisition platform. The card's measurement inputs employ three standard 3/4-inch spaced banana jack binding posts, fully isolated from computer and line power. True RMS circuitry ensures accurate AC measurements. A relative reference mode provides offset nulling capability. Software control flows through computer keyboard or mouse input; the pop-up display mode renders approximately one-third of the screen real estate.
