This unit
The Datron 1271 is an 8.5-digit precision digital multimeter engineered for calibration laboratories, standards applications, and demanding ATE environments. It delivers high accuracy and stability across a broad range of electrical measurements with selectable resolution from 5½ to 8½ digits. The instrument combines internal Selfcal and external Autocal calibration methods to maintain measurement traceability without requiring cover removal or frequent recalibration cycles.
Technical Specifications DC Voltage: Configurable measurements from 10 nV to 1100 V with 10 GΩ input impedance to 20 V. Selectable resolution spans 5½ to 8½ digits. AC Voltage (True RMS): Two options available. Option 10 (high-speed) measures 100 nV to 1100 V from 10 Hz to 1 MHz, delivering 6½ digit readings at 20 readings/second above 1 kHz. Option 12 (high-accuracy) covers 100 nV to 1100 V from 1 Hz to 1 MHz. Both support simultaneous voltage and frequency measurement, eliminating the need for a separate frequency counter. Resistance (Option 20): 2-wire and 4-wire measurements from 1 µΩ to 2 GΩ. Specialized functions include 2/4-Wire Ohms (eliminates lead resistance), True Ohms (eliminates thermal EMF), LoI Ohms (minimizes self-heating in PRTs and enables in-circuit measurements), and Ohms Guard (measures in-circuit resistance while guarding out leakage paths). Current (Option 30): DC and AC current measurements available, with ranges extending to 30 A. Ratio Measurements (Option 40): Comprehensive ratio capabilities via two identical rear input channels (A and B).
Key Features
Reading speed up to 1000 readings/second
Selfcal automatic internal calibration every 30 days or after ≥5°C ambient shifts
Maintains full measurement accuracy to 35°C without traceability loss
Stability better than 3 ppm/year over ±5°C range
Temperature range 0°C to 50°C
External Autocal available from front panel
Typical Applications Calibration and standards laboratories; automatic test equipment; in-circuit resistance measurement; precision voltage and current characterization.
Compatibility & Integration Dual input architecture (Option 40) and simultaneous measurement capabilities support multi-function test sequences and system integration in production and metrology environments.
