This unit
The Fujikura 31S is a core alignment fusion splicer designed for single-mode and multimode fiber splicing in field environments. It employs active V-groove alignment combined with dual-camera observation to achieve consistent splice loss performance across SMF, MMF, DSF, and NZDSF fiber types. Active Fusion Control (AFC) technology minimizes re-splicing by optimizing splices on fibers with challenging cleave angles. The splicer operates at altitudes up to 5,000 m and wind speeds to 15 m/sec, with IP5X dust and IPX2 rain protection. A 5.0" color LCD touchscreen with 132X magnification (200X post-splice) provides intuitive control and clear fiber observation even in bright sunlight. Splice execution is rapid: 6 seconds in SM FAST mode and 9 seconds in SM AUTO mode. Tube heating for 250 µm coated fiber completes in approximately 25 seconds.

Fujikura 31S — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Fujikura 31S. Calibration covers arc calibration (arc power and duration), V-groove alignment verification, cleave angle detection accuracy, splice loss estimation accuracy, and heating oven temperature calibration. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Fujikura 31S faults: electrode wear, V-groove contamination or chipping, motor alignment drift, high arc voltage errors. Common repairs include electrode replacement (typically every 2,000-3,000 arcs), V-groove cleaning or replacement, motor and actuator alignment, and camera/CCD replacement. Fujikura FSM and Sumitomo Type series parts are stocked.
