The Amplifier Research 700A is a solid-state, self-contained broadband RF power amplifier engineered for demanding laboratory and industrial applications. It delivers a minimum of 700 W into 50 Ω across 10 kHz to 250 MHz, with linear output of 250 W at less than 1 dB gain compression. The unit features continuously adjustable gain control over greater than 18 dB, switch-selectable output impedance from 12.5 Ω to 1000 Ω nominal, and integrated protection against excessive VSWR, overcurrent, overtemperature, and RF overdrive.
A directional power meter with front panel selector measures forward and reflected power. Internal architecture uses a low-level IC preamplifier and gain control stage feeding a four-output power splitter into two pairs of push-pull stages with final combining. Built-in time delay and zero-crossing turn-on minimize inrush current and extend component life.
Self-contained cooling with filtered inlets and plug-in subassemblies enable rapid maintenance. BNC connectors provide input and output interface. Primary power is 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz at 15 A.
Benchtop and rack-mount configurations are available.
