This unit
The Agilent/Keysight 81520A Optical Head is a silicon PIN photodiode sensor for precision optical power measurement across the visible and near-infrared spectrum. It integrates with Agilent/Keysight mainframe units (8153A, 8163, 8166 series) via interface modules (81533A/B) and the 8152A Optical Average Power Meter. The detector operates in photoconductive mode with a 5 mm sensor element, delivering 0.001 dB resolution and linearity of ±0.04 dB across its measurement range.
A one-stage Peltier cooler with NTC temperature sensing maintains stable operation at 20°C across the 0–55°C operating envelope.

Agilent / Keysight 81520A — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Agilent / Keysight 81520A. Calibration covers detector responsivity across all specified wavelengths (typically 800-1700 nm range), absolute power accuracy, and EEPROM calibration coefficient update. Compatible with Agilent/HP 8163A/B, 8164A/B, and 8166A/B mainframes.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Agilent / Keysight 81520A faults: FC/PC connector damage, EEPROM failure (mainframe shows unrecognized sensor), reduced responsivity. Common faults include FC/PC input connector damage, EEPROM failure causing the module to appear unrecognized by the mainframe, and reduced detector responsivity from contamination.
