This unit
The Agilent/Keysight 86290B is an RF plug-in module for the 8620C mainframe that delivers signal generation across 2.0 to 18.6 GHz. It combines a YIG Tuned Oscillator (2.0–6.2 GHz) with a YIG Tuned Multiplier (6.0–18.6 GHz) to provide continuous or band-selectable RF output at +10 dBm. The module supports flexible leveling via internal, external crystal, or power meter modes and includes a YTO test signal outlet on the rear panel.
Sweep performance spans 10 msec for single bands and 60 msec across the full 2.0–18.6 GHz range.
Technical Specifications
- Frequency Range: 2.0 GHz to 18.6 GHz (continuous Band 4) or selectable Band 1 (2.0–6.2 GHz), Band 2 (6.0–12.4 GHz), Band 3 (12.0–18.6 GHz)
- Output Power: +10 dBm across 2.0–18.6 GHz
- Power Level Control Range: 10 dBm
- Sweep Time: 10 msec (single bands); 60 msec (2.0–18.6 GHz continuous)
- RF Output Connector: Type-N standard; APC-7 available (Option 005)
- Auxiliary Output: YTO test signal at rear panel AUX OUT connector (typically −10 dBm)
Key Features
- Dual-oscillator architecture: YIG Tuned Oscillator for lower frequencies, YIG Tuned Multiplier for upper bands

Agilent / Keysight 86290B — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Agilent / Keysight 86290B. Calibration covers output frequency accuracy, output power level accuracy across the full frequency range, AM/FM/PM/pulse modulation accuracy, harmonic and spurious output levels, and phase noise floor verification. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common Agilent / Keysight 86290B faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
Agilent / Keysight 86290B price
