This unit

The Anritsu 69167B is a microprocessor-based synthesized sweep/signal generator spanning 0.01 to 40 GHz, engineered for RF design verification and complex signal simulation. It delivers phase-locked CW generation, broad and narrow-band sweeps, and multiple modulation modes including AM, FM, pulse, phase, and scan modulation. Front-panel and remote GPIB control via IEEE-488 provide full operational flexibility, while downloadable complex modulation and seven internal waveforms expand signal generation capabilities.

Technical Specifications

Frequency Coverage: 0.01 to 40 GHz with 100.0 mHz resolution (0.1 Hz with Option 11). Output Power: +13 dBm to -15 dBm typical; -120 dBm achievable with optional attenuator. Switching time below 5 ms for steps under 100 MHz; typically under 15 ms plus 1 ms per GHz step size or 40 ms maximum. Phase Noise: Ultra-low SSB phase noise at -107 dBc measured 10 kHz offset from 10 GHz. Output Impedance: 50 Ω (typical). Sweep Accuracy: ±30 MHz or ±2 MHz widths (whichever is lesser) at sweep speeds ≤50 MHz/ms.

Key Features

  • Digital frequency and power sweep with step counts from 1 to 10,000

  • Step sizes from 1 kHz to full range; dwell time 1 ms to 99 seconds per step

  • Alternate sweep mode between two frequency/power ranges

  • List sweep mode: 4 tables, 2000 non-sequential frequency/power sets, GPIB-addressable

  • Manual sweep mode for phase-locked stepped frequency adjustment

  • Swept Delay feature for moving target simulation

  • Modulation inputs/outputs via front- or rear-panel BNC connectors

  • SCPI programmability with Option 19

Modulation Capabilities AM (linear, log), FM, pulse, phase, and scan modulation. Internal generators supply seven waveforms including Gaussian noise. User-downloadable complex modulation supported.

Compatibility & Integration IEEE-488 GPIB interface enables remote command and control. Optional 2C/2D 90 dB step attenuator and Optional 2E 120 dB electronic step attenuator extend dynamic range. Single 13.3 cm package footprint minimizes rack space.

Cal with Data
$650
Full NIST cert with measured values

Common Anritsu 69167B faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
