This unit

The Agilent/Keysight E4200B is a modular VXIbus-based system for protocol and transmission testing in ATM/B-ISDN networks. Housed in a transportable C-sized chassis with integrated display and keyboard, it delivers field-trial capability without sacrificing lab functionality. The system is controlled by a PA-RISC processor running HP-UX with 64 MB RAM and 4 GB hard drive storage, supporting both benchtop and field deployment.

Technical Specifications

  • Processor: V743 HP-UX workstation controller (PA-RISC architecture)

  • Memory: 64 MB standard RAM

  • Storage: 4 GB hard drive; optional DVD-ROM drive available

  • Display: Color flat-panel, 640×480 resolution, integrated with detachable keyboard and trackball

  • Chassis Options: E4200B Form-7 (7 VXI C-sized slots, 5 user-installable); E4210 Form-13 (11 user-available slots)

  • Operating System: Standard UNIX user environment

  • User Interface: Visual User Environment (VUE) graphical interface based on X Window System (X11R5) and OSF/Motif

Key Features

  • Modular architecture accepts various VXIbus hardware modules and line interfaces for customized testing configurations

  • K&R C compiler with ANSI C, C++, and Tcl programming environments for test scenario development

  • Integrated library of test routines aligned with graphical user interface functions

  • Standard UNIX networking utilities: rlogin, telnet, and ftp

  • Expandable slot capacity supports protocol-specific test modules and measurement cards

Typical Applications

  • ATM/B-ISDN protocol validation and transmission testing

  • Field trials requiring transportable test platforms

  • R&D environments demanding modular, reconfigurable test systems

  • Network protocol development and debugging

Compatibility & Integration The system integrates into existing UNIX lab environments through standard network protocols and accepts VXIbus-compliant hardware modules. Development using C, C++, and Tcl allows integration with custom test frameworks and automation scripts.

Agilent / Keysight E4200B — Repair & Calibration Service

Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Agilent / Keysight E4200B. Calibration covers analog input channel accuracy and offset at all gain settings, analog output accuracy, digital I/O logic threshold verification, sample rate and timing accuracy, and trigger and synchronization bus functional verification. NI CompactRIO and PXI chassis also undergo backplane trigger line integrity check.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.

Standard Cal
$450
Pass/fail cert + NIST sticker
Cal with Data
$650
Full NIST cert with measured values

Common Agilent / Keysight E4200B faults: power supply failure (cRIO-9073/9074), C-series slot connector wear, PXI chassis fan failure, GPIB interface failure on VXI controllers, BIOS/EEPROM corruption. NI CompactRIO most common faults are power supply failure on older cRIO-9073/9074 chassis and C-series module slot connector wear from repeated hot-swap cycles. PXI chassis fan failure is the most common wear item — chassis fans are field-replaceable. VXI embedded controllers most commonly develop EEPROM corruption and GPIB interface failure.
