The Anritsu MT9085C ACCESS Master is a compact handheld OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) engineered for precise optical fiber characterization, event detection, and reflectometry across core, metro, mobile fronthaul, mobile backhaul, and access network installations. This single-unit platform integrates OTDR, optical loss/power measurement, and optional fiber end-face inspection capabilities to streamline field diagnostics and maintenance workflows. The MT9085C delivers a dynamic range up to 46 dB (Single Mode) with an event dead zone of ≤0.8 m, enabling detection and measurement of breaks, splices, connectors, and macrobend events across distances from 0.5 km to 300 km (Single Mode) and 0.5 km to 100 km (Multimode).


Distance resolution ranges from 0.05 m to 60 m, with up to 150,001 sampling points per trace. The refractive index setting adjusts from 1.300000 to 1.700000 in 0.000001 steps for precise fiber characterization. The instrument supports multiple wavelengths including 1310 nm and 1550 nm for Single Mode Fiber, with optional configurations at 1625 nm (macrobend analysis) and 1490 nm (FTTx/PON applications).


Reflectance accuracy is ±2 dB (Single Mode) and ±4 dB (Multimode). The device identifies branched fiber topologies up to 1 × 128 configurations. An 8-inch LCD touchscreen (800 × 480 resolution) with rotary knob and dedicated hard keys provides intuitive operation.


The Fiber Visualizer function displays events as schematic icons with automatic Pass/Fail evaluation. Internal memory accommodates up to 50,000 traces (1 GB); external USB storage extends to 32 GB. Distance units display in km, m, kft, ft, or mi.


The 12 V(dc) / 100–240 V(ac) power supply delivers up to 12 hours of battery operation.
