This unit

The Abaco Systems/VMIC PCI-5565-110 Reflective Memory Interface is a PCI-based network adapter enabling deterministic, low-latency data sharing across distributed systems. Data written to memory on any node automatically broadcasts to all other nodes on the network, eliminating host processor overhead and I/O bottlenecks. The interface supports up to 256 independent nodes connected via fiber optic links, delivering peak throughput of 174 Mbyte/s with 64-byte packets and sustained operation at 43 Mbyte/s with 4-byte packets.

Technical Specifications

  • Interface: PCI Revision 2.2 compliant

  • Network Architecture: Reflective Memory with up to 256 nodes

  • Data Transfer Rates: 43 Mbyte/s (4-byte packets); up to 174 Mbyte/s (64-byte packets)

  • Packet Size: Dynamic, 4 to 64 bytes

  • Onboard SDRAM: 64 MB or 128 MB configurations

  • Serial Data Rate: 2.12 Gbaud

  • Fiber Optic Links: Multimode up to 300 m; Single Mode up to 10 km

  • Physical Dimensions: 6 cm × 20 cm × 17.2 cm

  • Weight: 0.86 kg

Key Features

  • Software-transparent data transfer with no host processor involvement

  • Transmit and Receive FIFOs buffer peak-rate traffic for optimized bus performance

  • Any node can generate interrupts to single nodes or broadcast to all nodes via single command

  • Four user-definable interrupt levels with data-following acknowledgment

  • Error detection with redundant transfer mode for enhanced suppression

  • One independent DMA channel

Typical Applications

  • Real-time control systems requiring deterministic latency

  • Distributed data acquisition networks

  • Multi-node synchronized operations in demanding aerospace and defense environments

Compatibility & Integration Part of the VMIxxx-5565 family with network-compatible VMEbus (VMIVME-5565) and PCI Mezzanine Card (VMIPMC-5565) versions. Manufactured in the USA.

Abaco Systems / VMIC PCI-5565-110 / VMIPCI-5565-110 — Repair & Calibration Service

Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Abaco Systems / VMIC PCI-5565-110 / VMIPCI-5565-110. Calibration covers analog input channel accuracy and offset at all gain settings, analog output accuracy, digital I/O logic threshold verification, sample rate and timing accuracy, and trigger and synchronization bus functional verification. NI CompactRIO and PXI chassis also undergo backplane trigger line integrity check.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.

Common Abaco Systems / VMIC PCI-5565-110 / VMIPCI-5565-110 faults: power supply failure (cRIO-9073/9074), C-series slot connector wear, PXI chassis fan failure, GPIB interface failure on VXI controllers, BIOS/EEPROM corruption. NI CompactRIO most common faults are power supply failure on older cRIO-9073/9074 chassis and C-series module slot connector wear from repeated hot-swap cycles. PXI chassis fan failure is the most common wear item — chassis fans are field-replaceable. VXI embedded controllers most commonly develop EEPROM corruption and GPIB interface failure.
