This unit

The Anritsu 69059A Synthesized CW Generator delivers stable, low-phase-noise RF signal generation across 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz. Engineered for aerospace, telecommunications, and R&D environments, this instrument provides precise frequency and power control with GPIB automation capability. Output ranges from -125 dBm to +17 dBm with phase noise of -100 dBc at 10 kHz offset from 10 GHz carrier.

The 69059A supports CW and step sweep modes - stepping through up to 10,000 frequencies with dwell times from 1 ms to 99 seconds and switching speeds under 40 ms. Frequency resolution reaches 1 kHz standard or 0.1 Hz with Option 11. Programmable frequency agility enables 1000 non-sequential phase-locked steps via GPIB control.

Internal AM, FM, phase, and pulse modulation are standard; complex modulation can be user-downloaded. Frequency accuracy tracks the internal or external 10 MHz time base, with aging stability below 2×10⁻⁸/day and temperature stability below 2×10⁻⁸/°C over 0°C to 55°C. Harmonic suppression achieves <-50 dBc in the 500 MHz to 2.2 GHz band, <-40 dBc from 50 MHz to 2 GHz, and <-30 dBc from 10 MHz to 50 MHz.

Common Anritsu 69059A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
