This unit

The Anritsu 69077A Synthesized CW Generator delivers precise, stable continuous-wave signals across 0.01 to 50 GHz. Engineered for telecommunications, radar, and defense test environments, this instrument combines low single-sideband phase noise, minimal spurious content, and controlled output power to serve as a local oscillator replacement and general-purpose RF/microwave signal source.

Technical Specifications

Frequency Range: 0.01 to 50 GHz with 1 kHz resolution (0.1 Hz with Option 11) Output Power:

  • +12 dBm (0.01 to <2 GHz)

  • +10 dBm (2 to 20 to ≤40 GHz)

  • Guaranteed leveled power up to +10 dBm (maximum +17 dBm leveled)

  • Minimum leveled output: −15 dBm (−120 dBm with attenuator, −140 dBm with electronic attenuator)

  • Power resolution: 0.01 dB logarithmic or 0.001 mV linear Frequency Stability:

  • Internal time base: <2 × 10⁻⁸/day aging (<5 × 10⁻¹⁰/day with Option 16)

  • Temperature stability: <2 × 10⁻⁸/°C over 0 to 55°C (<2 × 10⁻¹⁰/°C with Option 16) Phase Noise: Low SSB phase noise; typical −107 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset (10 GHz carrier) Spurious Performance: Harmonic and harmonic-related spurious <−50 dBc (500 MHz to 2.2 GHz); 50 MHz to 2 GHz)

Key Features

  • Twenty independent presettable CW frequencies (F0–F9, M0–M9)

  • External 10 MHz reference input and 0.5 V p-p output (50 Ω, AC coupled)

  • Optional step sweep with 1 MHz to full-range width, 1 to 10,000 steps, variable 1 ms to 99 seconds dwell

  • Fast frequency switching: <40 ms to 1 kHz settling; <5 ms for <100 MHz steps

Typical Applications Local oscillator replacement, receiver/transmitter testing, component characterization, and system-level RF validation in defense and commercial telecommunications.

Compatibility & Integration Part of the Anritsu 69000A Series. Accepts internal or external 10 MHz time base with optional high-stability oscillator upgrade (Option 16).

Common Anritsu 69077A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
