This unit

The Anritsu 69363A is a synthesized sweep/signal generator delivering microwave signal generation across 2 GHz to 40 GHz. It generates continuous wave (CW) frequencies and both broad and narrow band sweeps with phase-lock capability, supporting analog, step, manual, and alternate sweep modes. Programmable frequency agility stores up to 1000 non-sequential frequencies addressable via GPIB control.

Front-panel and remote operation (IEEE-488) control all functions except power on/standby.

Technical Specifications

  • Frequency Range: 2 GHz to 40 GHz

  • Output Power Range: -125 dBm to +17 dBm

  • Frequency Switching Time (between sweep ranges): Typically less than 40 ms

  • Step Sweep Switching Time: Typically less than 15 ms + 1 ms/GHz step size, or less than 40 ms, whichever is less

  • Dwell Time Per Step: 1 ms to 99 seconds (variable)

  • Internal Time Base Stability (aging): Typically less than 2 × 10⁻⁸/day; optional stability module reduces to < 5 × 10⁻¹⁰/day

  • Internal Time Base Stability (temperature): Typically < 2 × 10⁻⁸/°C (0°C to 55°C range)

  • Phase Noise: Ultra-low SSB phase noise characteristics typical of 69000 series instruments

Key Features

  • Synthesized CW and sweep generation across full 2–40 GHz range

  • Analog sweep for continuous frequency adjustment

  • Step sweep with user-selectable step counts and sizes

  • Manual sweep with phase-locked frequency stepping

  • Alternate sweep mode between two independent frequency ranges with configurable power levels

  • High-resolution phase-lock capability

  • Frequency agility: up to 1000 programmable non-sequential frequencies stored in volatile memory

  • External 10 MHz reference input

  • GPIB (IEEE-488) remote control interface

Typical Applications Microwave signal generation, component characterization, receiver testing, and broadband system validation across X-, Ku-, and Ka-band frequencies.

Compatibility & Integration Local front-panel operation or remote control via IEEE-488 GPIB interface. Accepts external 10 MHz reference signals for synchronized operation in multi-instrument test systems.

Anritsu 69363A — Repair & Calibration Service

Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Anritsu 69363A. Calibration covers output frequency accuracy, output power level accuracy across the full frequency range, AM/FM/PM/pulse modulation accuracy, harmonic and spurious output levels, and phase noise floor verification. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.

Cal with Data
$650
Full NIST cert with measured values

Common Anritsu 69363A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
