Key Features Modulation Capability (8350B Mainframe)

Internal square-wave modulation at 1 kHz or 27.8 kHz with >30 dB on/off ratio. External AM modulation supports 15 dB control range and 1 dB/V sensitivity with 100 kHz frequency response. Pulse modulation accommodates rise/fall times ≤50 ns and minimum pulse widths ≤5 µs (internally leveled) or ≤200 ns (unleveled). External FM accepts ±75 MHz deviation (DC–100 Hz), ±7 MHz (100 Hz–1 MHz), and ±1 MHz (1–2 MHz). Marker and Display Five independent, continuously variable markers with marker sweep function. High-resolution digital displays. Save/recall registers store up to nine front-panel states. Control Interface HP-IB (IEEE-488) programmability via the 8350B mainframe enables remote control and automation.

Compatibility & Integration Designed exclusively for HP/Agilent 8350A/B sweep oscillator mainframes. The 8350 platform accepts multiple 83500 Series RF plug-ins for frequency and power configurations. HP 86200 Series plug-ins integrate via the HP 11869A adapter.

Common HP / Agilent 83570A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
