This unit

The HP/Agilent 83651A is a synthesized sweeper that generates RF signals from 45 MHz to 50 GHz with 1 Hz frequency resolution. This instrument is a dedicated source for Agilent 8510 systems, delivering precise signal generation for microwave component and subsystem characterization. Frequency accuracy in CW mode tracks the internal time base; in swept mode, accuracy reaches 0.1% of sweep width plus time base error for frequencies up to 26.5 GHz and sweep widths to n × 10 MHz.

The rear-panel RF output provides 10 dBm maximum power.

Cal with Data
$650
Full NIST cert with measured values

Common HP / Agilent 83651A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
