This unit

The HP/Agilent 83751A Synthesized Sweeper generates precise RF signals across 2 to 20 GHz with 1 Hz frequency resolution and synthesized accuracy. It combines the stability of a synthesizer with analog sweep speed, enabling rapid component characterization and scalar network analysis. The instrument supports multiple sweep modes

CW, stepped, ramp (analog/digital), marker, alternate, and power sweep - plus AM, FM, and pulse modulation.

Internal or external ALC maintains output power accuracy across temperature and frequency variations. GPIB control with SCPI and HP 8350 command compatibility enables direct integration into automated test systems.

Technical Specifications

  • Frequency Range: 2 GHz to 20 GHz with 1 Hz resolution

Common HP / Agilent 83751A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
