The IP-Octal 485 is a single-wide Type I IndustryPack module delivering eight EIA-485 asynchronous serial ports for industrial control and data acquisition applications. Built on the Signetics SCC2698B octal UART, It has programmable serial communication with configurable baud rates, data bits, parity, and stop bits across all channels.

Compatible transition modules include XM-OCTAL (19" rack-mount DB9 females), XM-OCTAL-6U-D (6U-mount 25D females), XM-OCTAL-6U-RJ8 (6U-mount RJ45), and XM-OCTAL6URJ16 (6U-mount RJ11). Carriers with Champ50 connectors are not compatible. Carriers lacking ID PROM write capability may require on-module memory allocation for interrupt vectors.
