This unit

The Advantest R6441A is a 4.5-digit digital multimeter engineered for precision measurement across DC and AC voltage, and DC current applications in manufacturing, R&D, and quality control environments. The instrument features dual-channel input capability with dual display operation, integrating-type measurement circuitry, and selectable auto or manual range switching. A 7-segment electron-ray indicator tube provides clear readings at sampling rates up to 80 samples/second.

The R6441A forms the baseline of the R6441 series, with enhanced variants offering expanded AC measurement (R6441B) and specialized current measurement capabilities (R6441C).

Technical Specifications

DC voltage measurement spans 20 mV to 1000 V with resolution down to 1 µV on the 20 mV range and accuracy from ±0.04% ±5 digits (20–200 mV) to ±0.07% ±10 digits (1000 V). Input impedance reaches 1 GΩ or more across 20 mV–200 V ranges. AC voltage measurement covers 200 mV to 700 V at 10 µV to 100 mV resolution with frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.2% ±30d at 45 Hz to 20 kHz). DC current ranges span 20 mA to 10 A with 1 µA to 1 mA resolution. Maximum display readings reach 199999 at 2.5 samples/second or 1999 at 80 samples/second. Input method is floating type; maximum allowable DC voltage is 1100 V continuous. AC voltage measurement handles up to 800 Vrms with 1100 V peak, includes 300 Hz to 100 kHz filter, and delivers response time of approximately 4 seconds.

Common Advantest R6441A faults: blown input fuse, worn input jacks, display segment failure, relay contact wear on bench DMMs. Common faults include worn input jacks (banana socket contact wear on the mA and COM terminals), blown input fuses (especially the 440 mA HRC fuse), and display segment failures. Keithley 2000/2001/2002 bench DMMs commonly develop relay contact wear affecting resistance accuracy after extended service.
