This unit

The Fluke 279FC I/B is a wireless True RMS thermal multimeter combining digital multimeter functionality with integrated thermal imaging for comprehensive electrical diagnostics. The instrument delivers 15 measurement functions including AC voltage with low-pass filter, DC voltage, resistance, continuity, capacitance, diode test, frequency, and motor drive (ASD) measurements. True RMS computation ensures accuracy across distorted and uneven waveforms. An integrated thermal imager with 102x77 pixel resolution and 36° x 27° field of view detects hot spots and temperature anomalies from -10 °C to 200 °C across a 162:1 distance-to-spot ratio. The included iFlex current clamp extends AC current measurement capability to 2500 A in confined spaces, with the probe measuring 18 inches. Fluke Connect® wireless connectivity transmits results to smartphones within 20 meters in open air for remote analysis and reporting. The 3.5-inch color LCD displays thermal images and electrical readings simultaneously. Internal memory stores up to 100 thermal images for later review and documentation. Dual rechargeable lithium-ion batteries provide 10+ hours operation, with automatic power-off conserving charge. Built to withstand 3-meter drops with double insulation and raised rubber holster protection. Assembled in the USA.

Fluke 279FC I/B — Repair & Calibration Service

Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the Fluke 279FC I/B. Calibration covers DC voltage accuracy at all ranges, AC voltage (True RMS) accuracy at 50 Hz, 1 kHz, and 10 kHz, DC current accuracy, resistance accuracy at all decade ranges, frequency accuracy, and diode test voltage. Fluke 87V and 289 also include capacitance and temperature calibration.. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.

Standard Cal
$450
Pass/fail cert + NIST sticker
Cal with Data
$650
Full NIST cert with measured values

Common Fluke 279FC I/B faults: blown input fuse, worn input jacks, display segment failure, relay contact wear on bench DMMs. Common faults include worn input jacks (banana socket contact wear on the mA and COM terminals), blown input fuses (especially the 440 mA HRC fuse), and display segment failures. Keithley 2000/2001/2002 bench DMMs commonly develop relay contact wear affecting resistance accuracy after extended service.

Fluke 279FC I/B price
