This unit
The HP/Agilent 3310B Function Generator delivers precision waveform synthesis across seven distinct output types: sine, square, triangle, positive pulse, negative pulse, positive ramp, and negative ramp. Operating from 0.0005 Hz to 5 MHz across ten decade ranges, it combines broad frequency coverage with exceptional output control - delivering up to 30 V peak-to-peak (open circuit) or 15 V peak-to-peak (into 50 Ω) on the high output, with minimum outputs below 30 mV peak-to-peak. The instrument features adjustable DC offset (±10 V open circuit, ±5 V into 50 Ω), a built-in attenuator providing >30 dB control, and external VCO capability for frequency modulation and external triggering. Pulse and ramp functions offer fixed 15% or 85% duty cycle operation.

HP / Agilent 3310B — Repair & Calibration Service
Aumictech offers NIST-traceable calibration and repair for the HP / Agilent 3310B. Calibration covers output frequency accuracy, output amplitude accuracy at 50 ohm and Hi-Z load, DC offset accuracy, symmetry and duty cycle accuracy, and arbitrary waveform sample rate accuracy. All calibrations ship with a NIST-traceable certificate. Turnaround is typically 1–3 business days after receipt.
Common HP / Agilent 3310B faults: BNC output connector wear, output amplifier failure from short-circuit drive, display and keypad membrane switch wear, DDS or DAC failure on 33250A. HP 33120A and Agilent 33220A most common fault is BNC output connector wear from repeated cable insertions. Output amplifier failure on the HP 33120A typically results from sustained short-circuit drive. Agilent 33250A DDS and high-speed DAC failures are rare but require component-level repair and post-repair amplitude verification across the full 80 MHz range.
