Verification before listing:

  • All tests performed.
The Fujikura 41S is a core alignment fusion splicer designed for field and outside plant work. Core alignment means the splicer actively aligns the fiber cores using image processing before the arc fires, not just the cladding surface. For single-mode fiber especially, that distinction directly affects splice loss. Key Specs Alignment Method: Active core alignment Splice Time: 9 seconds Heat Shrink Time: 35 seconds (standard 60mm sleeve) Splice Loss (SM): 0.02dB typical Splice Loss (MM): 0.01dB typical Fiber Compatibility: SM, MM, DS, NZ-DS, B1.3, B4 Electrode Life: 3,000 arc cycles Battery: Li-ion, 200 splice and shrink cycles per charge Display: Color LCD, dual camera view Protection Rating: IP52 Weight: 2.1kg with battery Operating Temp: -10°C to 50°C Storage Temp: -40°C to 80°C Dual camera view shows the fiber from two axes simultaneously on the color LCD, which makes fiber prep problems obvious before you commit to a splice. Bad cleave angles, dirty fiber ends, and contamination show up on screen rather than in your splice loss results after the fact. The 200 splice and shrink cycles per battery charge is a real field number. Enough for a full day of outside plant work without hunting for power. The Li-ion pack is user-replaceable, so aging batteries do not strand the splicer. At 2.1kg it is not ultralight, but the IP52 rating and ruggedized housing make it a splicer that handles job site conditions. Dust, light moisture, and drops onto rough surfaces are part of the environment it was built for. This unit was tested at our Downingtown, PA facility before listing. Splice test was run, arc calibration was verified, and the heating oven was confirmed operational. What fiber types does it support? SM, MM, DS, NZ-DS, B1.3, and B4. Standard telecom fiber types are all covered. If you are splicing something outside that list, contact us with the fiber spec and we will tell you whether the 41S handles it. Does it come with electrodes? Electrodes are consumables rated for 3,000 arcs. We note remaining electrode life when known. Replacement electrodes are available separately through Fujikura's distribution network and several aftermarket suppliers. What is included with the unit? Unit, carry case, and whatever accessories are confirmed in stock at time of listing. Contact us before ordering to get a current accessories list, since this varies unit to unit on used equipment.

Common Fujikura 41S faults: electrode wear, V-groove contamination or chipping, motor alignment drift, high arc voltage errors. Common repairs include electrode replacement (typically every 2,000-3,000 arcs), V-groove cleaning or replacement, motor and actuator alignment, and camera/CCD replacement. Fujikura FSM and Sumitomo Type series parts are stocked.
