This unit

The Fluke 6080A/AN is a synthesized RF signal generator delivering precise, low-noise signals across 10 kHz to 1056 MHz. Purpose-built for receiver testing, calibration, and characterization in telecommunications, aerospace, and research environments, it combines frequency accuracy of ±(2 ppm + 1 Hz) with output amplitude control spanning +19 dBm to -140 dBm (below 512 MHz) and +17 dBm to -140 dBm (512 MHz and above). The instrument features 1 Hz frequency resolution, ±0.75 dB output flatness, and comprehensive modulation capabilities including AM, FM, PM, FSK, PSK, pulse, and sweep modes. Its digitally synthesized internal modulation source generates sinusoidal, square, triangular, and pulse waveforms at rates from 0.1 Hz to 200 kHz, with AM depths to 99.9% and distortion below 1.5% at 1 kHz. Frequency stability holds ±(5 ppm + 5 Hz) per day and per year. External reference inputs accept 1, 2, 5, or 10 MHz signals at ±10 ppm with 0.2 to 2.0 Vrms into 50 Ω impedance. The 10 MHz reference output delivers >0 dBm into 50 Ω load with nominal 50 Ω source impedance. Amplitude resolution of 0.1 dB and accuracy of ±0.5 dB enable demanding measurement and test scenarios. Output level switching completes within 100 ms to within 0.1 dB. Source SWR remains <1.5:1 for levels below +6 dBm and 0 dBm into 50 Ω Output Amplitude

Common Fluke 6080A/AN faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
