This unit

The HP 83592B is a plug-in signal generator module for the HP 8350A/B sweep oscillator mainframe, delivering continuous coverage from 10 MHz to 20 GHz. This broadband coaxial swept frequency source provides precise frequency generation, excellent signal quality, and dynamic output power control across four internal frequency bands. It serves multiple roles: scalar network analysis, local oscillator support, and general-purpose signal sourcing for telecommunications, aerospace, and defense applications requiring high-frequency test signals.

Common HP 83592B faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
