This unit

The Agilent/Keysight 8673A is a synthesized signal generator delivering precise RF and microwave signal generation from 2 GHz to 26 GHz. Built on indirect synthesis with YIG-tuned oscillator phase-locked to a 10 MHz quartz reference, It has frequency stability better than 5 × 10⁻⁷ per day and exceptionally flat output across the full operating range. The instrument supports amplitude, frequency, and pulse modulation simultaneously, with output power continuously variable from +1 dBm to −120 dBm and 0.1 dB resolution.

Common Agilent / Keysight 8673A faults: YIG oscillator failure (no output or loss of lock), step attenuator wear (output drops or steps at set attenuation), ALC loop failure (uncontrolled output power), I/Q modulator assembly failure. HP/Agilent 836xx series most common faults are YIG oscillator failure and step attenuator contact wear causing output steps or drops at specific attenuation settings. Keysight E4428C/E4438C units most commonly develop ALC loop failure and I/Q modulator assembly faults. YIG oscillator replacement and attenuator service are stocked repairs.
