This unit

The Burleigh/Exfo WA-1100 is a precision optical wavelength meter covering 700–1650 nm using a scanning Michelson interferometer with integrated HeNe laser calibration. It delivers absolute wavelength accuracy of ±1.5 pm with 0.001 nm resolution, making it the standard choice for DWDM component characterization, tunable laser validation, and optical spectrum analyzer calibration across telecom and datacom bands. The instrument simultaneously measures total optical power and wavelength from a single fiber input. Its 0.1 s measurement cycle enables real-time signal monitoring. A built-in HeNe reference laser (±500 MHz accuracy) continuously calibrates the system, eliminating the need for external wavelength standards.

Common Burleigh / Exfo WA-1100 faults: interferometer alignment drift, reference etalon or HeNe laser end-of-life, InGaAs detector sensitivity loss, fiber input connector damage. Fizeau interferometer-based instruments (Agilent 86120B/86122A/C) most commonly develop interferometer alignment drift and InGaAs detector degradation over time. Burleigh WA-series scanning Fabry-Perot instruments most commonly fail due to reference HeNe laser end-of-life. Both types are fully repairable with post-repair wavelength accuracy verification.
