It transparently translates GPIB signals and protocols into VXIbus instrument commands, enabling legacy GPIB controllers to manage VXIbus devices without host replacement. The module performs critical resource management functions including device identification, address mapping, configuration, self-test coordination, and commander/servant hierarchy establishment. It operates as either a VXIbus commander or servant, managing power-up resource allocation and device initialization when deployed in Slot 0.
