This unit

The Keysight/Agilent/HP 4263B is a precision LCR meter engineered for rapid, accurate measurement of inductance, capacitance, resistance, and impedance across component production lines and benchtop verification workflows. Operating at 0.1% basic accuracy with measurement times as fast as 25 ms, the 4263B delivers reliable characterization of passive components in quality control, design validation, and component evaluation environments.

Technical Specifications The 4263B measures inductance (L), capacitance (C), resistance (R), impedance (|Z|), reactance (X), conductance (G), susceptance (B), admittance (|Y|), quality factor (Q), dissipation factor (D), and phase angle (θ). With Option 001, the instrument also quantifies turns-ratio (N), mutual inductance (M), and DC resistance (Rdc). Test frequencies include 100 Hz, 120 Hz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz, and 100 kHz. Option 4263B-002 extends capability to 20 kHz. AC test signal levels range from 20 mVrms to 1 Vrms, adjustable in 5 mVrms increments. Measurement time settings support Medium or Long modes, with cable length correction at 0, 1, 2, and 4 meters. Internal DC bias selections are 1.5 Vdc and 2.0 Vdc. External bias voltage reaches ±200 V DC maximum via the 16065A interface, or ±40 V DC maximum with the 16065C adapter. Capacitor discharge protection operates internally with maximum voltage ratings of ±(8/C) V typical up to 250 V, and ±(2/C) V typical up to 1000 V (C in Farads).

Common Keysight / Agilent / HP 4263B faults: GPIB interface board failure, display failure, guard terminal switch contact wear, oscillator calibration drift on older analog bridges. HP 4284A and 4285A most common faults are HPIB interface board failure and display contrast loss. The internal oscillator and vector measurement circuits are highly stable and rarely fail. Wayne Kerr and GenRad bridge instruments may develop switch contact wear on decade resistance/capacitance dials.
